Liyema Adam is a very humble and respectful learner here at Dale Junior. He is devoted to all that he is involved in and never fails to impress. He is currently the Deputy Head boy of the school, displaying great leadership potential.

Liyema started his rugby career at the age of 7, here at Dale Junior. He has always been in the ‘A team’ throughout the age groups. He started his career off as a hooker and then went on to play eighth man. From U/11 he moved to the backline and played centre. He was the U/11A and U/12A captain and currently plays outside centre for the U/13A’s He has made the provincial team (Border) in last year for the U/12’s and again this year for the U/13’s. He has currently scored 10 tries this season.

Liyema has also played cricket since he was 11 years old. He has been part of the U/13A side for two years now and has done exceptionally well. He has scored 5 half centuries as part of the squad and is also the vice – captain.

On the athletics front, Liyema dominates the 100m and 200m sprints. He is also the athletics team captain.

We are grateful to have Liyema as a member of the Dale Junior family. He has shown tremendous growth in character and is a true gentleman. We are thankful for all the support from the Fusion Group in ensuring we can support Liyema to the best of our ability so that he can excel.

Dimitri Peter has always been a passionate rugby player. He played rugby for his previous school representing the A team through the various age groups. Last year he made the Border (provincial) U/12 rugby team that toured to Riversdaal. He met some players from Dale Junior and expressed an interest in coming to Dale.

This was followed with an application to come to Dale Junior. We then proceeded with the sponsorship programme to try and source finances for his schooling at Dale Junior. That is where the Fusion Group came in and provided the finances. Dimitri has also been accepted into the hostel and receives exceptional care from the hostel and duty staff of DV Taylor Hostel. He has gone on tour to Durban with the Dale U/13A rugby side and made valuable contributions in the matches.

Unfortunately, he sustained a concussion during the second last game and was ruled out of sport for three weeks to allow him to recover. (The team did very well, winning 5 out of 5 of their tour matches.) Dimitri has shown growth in his ability, confidence and love of the game. We look forward to monitoring his development through the remainder of the season and his provincial career.
